Police are on the hunt for an assailant who randomly attacked an MTA worker with an umbrella inside an M train station over the weekend.
According to police sources, the incident unfolded at around 9:35 a.m. on May 4 at the lower mezzanine of the Myrtle-Wyckoff Avenues stop on the Brooklyn/Queens boundary in Ridgewood.
Cops report that a 53-year-old female MTA worker was throwing out garbage when she was approached by a woman and struck several times across the head and arm with an umbrella in an unprovoked attack. The suspect then fled the scene.
Officers from the 104th Precinct and NYPD Transit District 33 responded to the scene. The victim, who suffered a headache and pain, was brought to nearby Wyckoff Heights Medical Center for treatment.
Sources familiar with the incident report that the victim did not know her attacker and the assault took place in an area of the station without surveillance video. However, police managed to find an image of the alleged assailant passing through the turnstile.
